Swim City and graphic designer, Kaara Forster approached me to design characters and wall art for the rebranding of the Swim City swimming school.
Sea creature designs
Swim City already had pre-existing sea creature characters representing the various coaching levels. I was asked to bring them up-to-date and add new characters in the form of parent and child seahorses.
Coaches and kids
Other requirements were illustrations of the lead coaches, Jonathon (a GB international swimmer), his sister Stacy, and swimming children to be used as wall art.
Mural
The main bulk of the project was taken up designing an 8 metre mural featuring our sea creatures and coaches in an expansive underwater scene. As this was to be handed to a mural artist to paint, all artwork was produced in flat colour - no gradients or blending - to make it easier for the artist to match.
'Bubble wall'
The 'Bubble wall' was designed as wall art, with each of the large 9 bubbles acting as a space for which to pin biogs and information about all 9 swimming instructors.
