John Hegley - one of England's most beloved comic poets - has been gracing stages, TV and radio since the 1980's. I started work on his show posters after a brief chat about his wonderful drawings backstage at Glastonbury in 2022. I've been producing his Edinburgh Festival posters - as well as some other tour posters - since then.

Edinburgh 2025
2025's Edinburgh show focussed on folk music and featured drawings by John. My role involved taking John's scanned sketches, tidying them up for print and choosing an eye-catching palette and layout.
These were 2 posters designed in 2025 for short-run shows. Again, John supplied scanned sketches for me to incorporate into the designs. Photo supplied from a shoot by Suzi Corker.
2024
For John's 2024 Edinburgh show, John wanted a psychedelic 60's feel to go with his surreal, enigmatic show, 'Do Horses Have Teeth, Sir?' Again, John supplied the drawing and the photo was by Suzi Corker. It was fun designing the abstract background for this layout.
2023
John wanted something very specific for his 2023 Edinburgh show. I'd caricatured John as an owl for a Glastonbury poster some years earlier and John wanted that depiction to be used (along with his worm) in his 'Early Word' show poster. It was a genuine thrill to have one of mine and John's drawings together in the same artwork.
2022
This was the first poster (and flyer) I produced for John. John supplied the photo (by Suzi Corker) and gave me free reign to design the layout and colour scheme. This was my first attempt to draw (biscuits in this instance) in the style of John.
