The Auf Wiedersehen, Pet fansite commissioned me to recreate graphics from Series 2 of the show to be printed on merchandise for their 'deep-cut' fans.
The Barley Mow
The Barley Mow pub was heavily featured in the second series - run by the irascibly pompous landlord, Arthur 'Tiger' Pringle, played to perfection by the late Bryan Pringle.
Very little reference remains of the Barley Bow pub sign, other than brief shots from the series footage, so recreating it required an artist's eye to extrapolate missing details whilst keeping it as authentic as possible.
The final design was printed on mugs and coasters and is now available to purchase on the Auf Wiedersehen, Pet fansite
Harry Blackburn, plumber
Harry Blackburn, played by the great Kevin Lloyd, played a memorable role in Series 2 as the country & western loving plumber of Thornley Manor. He drove a Nissan Patrole adorned with buffalo horns and the tagline, 'I'm Plumb Crazy!'
I was tasked with recreating the 2 variations of the tagline 'I'm Plumb Crazy' (from the side of the car and the hood). I was also asked to create an original logo for Harry, based on the font used in the series and incorporating the buffalo horns he had attached to the roof of the car.
As with the Barley Mow pub sign, the original artwork for the graphics couldn't be tracked down, so the only usable reference was from the series footage.
I produced 2 versions of the 3 designs and left it up to the fansite to decide which one to use on their merchandise.
The fansite couldn't choose between the 2 variations so instead produced 2 variations of the Harry Blackburn, Plumber mug and coaster.
Both are now available on the Auf Wiedersehen Pet fansite.
